The objectives need to be SMART. Typically, the objectives should flow from: i) Continuation of last year's Objectives if they are not completed. ii) Risk assessment iii) Incident Investigation Recommendations & Leaning from incidents iv) Benchmarking with the best v) Best Practices in safety & health vi) Alignment with Buisness Objectives This would be a better way of setting safety objectives instead of setting of adhoc ones.

The ecosystems of training starts from TNI (Training needs Identification) & competence mapping. There is the need to then identify what category employees need which training. This is called Training Matrix. After Matrix, it is essential to have the Calendar - who will undergo which training and in which month. That will be the Training Calender. When the training has been delivered, get the feedback and also check the training effectiveness to see the applicability in day today's job. Finally, as the years pass, it is good to take stock of the situation and ensure Refresher training. This in a nutshell completes the ecosystem of training which is essential for good safety performance and developing a positive safety culture.
