Never stop learning. Cybersecurity is an inch deep and a mile wide. There is always something new to learn. At every opportunity take a chance to share your experience with others. I take the time to document every new idea or thoughts in my notes. This has really helped me to stay abreast of latest trends and practices.

Getting reps in is so important. I love reading and learning new topics but if you aren’t putting in the hands on practice you are not developing the “real world” skills. So many opportunities to do the hands on work from the concepts you are learning, from setting up a home lab to spinning something up in the cloud. I started with learning Linux on my own with a LAMP stack from all open source aka FREE on an old 100 dollar used laptop. Over my career and can tell the difference from those who just read and those who read and practice.

One should never stop learning and gaining experience in the cyber security domain. many companies have their CTF programs, labs, and home-lab (set up in your local system for security testing purposes), also you can go for internship programs which help a lot for a newcomer. which can give you so much knowledge and skills to make a better career.

CISSP is an umbrella which is followed in all the industry, all platforms, PII, PHI, government, private and includes humans, environment, nature, Cloud, AI/ML. Do self learning, adapt cybersecurity principle part of your life, follow standards, frameworks, regulations.
