UX is a field where every background helps, we as designers are always looking for perspectives from all plates, and coming from diverse backgrounds help us make wiser and planned decisions . Be it a video editing experience, be it graphic design, be it frontend development, be it backend, I have been in a lot of it and now when I think of them from my role's perspective, I get much better thoughts while making a decision which could've been not as good as now. I think the more the merrier.

I transitioned from a 6 year career as a Chartered Accountant to Product design, 3 years ago. I've found that accounting, law, business knowledge and analytical skills from my accountant career has been immensely helpful-- be it in understanding the client's business, understanding a fin-tech product or product with finance/taxation/accounting-related features, as well as solutionizing complex problems. Another transferable skill that helps a lot is communication-- as an accountant/audit consultant, you're constantly on review calls / presentations / exchanging emails with your manager/peers/clients-- with very few opportunities to miscommunicate.
