Understanding your Organizational strategy/ vision/ goals is a key. You must have a good business and process accumen for that, if not–seek support from HR or your line manager to build a good understanding. Once done above, see how your department/function is contributing in the achievement of that goal. Do ask for your departmental goals. Doing that, will help you evaluating your own work area, and analysing how can you with your work can contribute in which of the departmental goal leading further in the fulfillment of Organizational goal. Lastly, whatever!! Whatever task you are performing –is important. Think critically to improve it.
