The importance of identifying your goals cannot be overstated but it is easier said than done, especially at the start of your career or at the start at a new company. If you are not sure (yet) then my recommendation would be to seek out learning opportunities. Give your current appointment your all. Be good to work with (or for) along the way and reflect every six months or so on what you have learned / are learning. Be patient and don't kid yourself that you have learned it all in six months (Accounts - tick, Project Management - tick) because most project lifecycles take much longer and finishing one project type doesn't mean you've done them all. Volunteer for stuff. That will get you extra experience, networking and visibility.
