In my experience as Safety Trainer when I faced with such a challenge, I organized a one-on-one discussion session with the supervisor and his team, effectively communicated the need, benefit and value of the training, emphasizing how the training directly contributed to the well-being of the workforce, and the success of the organization in its compliance with national and international health and safety rules and regulations.

Safety is everybody’s duty, fortunately in the Oil and gas industry, policies are being introduced everyday to ensure strict adherence to SOPs.. Senior colleagues by virtue of their experience already understand the importance of safety trainings. It is therefore up to the safety man to amend his/her method of training and make everyone involved understand that these trainings is in the interest of everyone.
