Ideally your meeting/ discussion style should give at least a few minutes to each one of them to share their thoughts on the agenda, and then pick up the best possible solutions that way each member gets representation and you can screen the ideas / action items and further discuss on it and ask the team members, what they think will work and what want. This way you intentionally limit the spotlight on just one person!

I take the same approach to Zoom calls I'm hosting as board meetings I'm chairing. As chair, my role is not to speak myself, so much as to ensure everyone else gets a chance to speak. Often, this is as simple as saying "I'd like to hear what {name} thinks about this" and putting them on the spot. If team members are uncomfortable with the spotlight, this is a great way for them to learn how to participate in a Zoom/Teams/Meet/whatever - a necessary skill for them to develop for their own career success. The other role of chair/facilitator is to stop one person from "hogging the mic". Interrupt and re-direct the conversation to a different, previous question - call on the person who asked it by name, if you remember or took notes.

Team discussions in principal depend on each member knowledge , experience and character . Their are people who have the knowledge but they shy away from confrontation or public conversation . As a leader i should encourage maximum engagement by all team member by asking direct questions for members who are not engaged and give them the platform to engage . By this way i limited the monopoly of one member and encourage others to actively participate . In conclusion every one will participate and say his opinion without offending any one.

"AGENDA" is the magical word here. Before initiating a meeting it is essential for us to have a clear meeting agenda being circulated to all via email. This ensures each and every thing is very specific so one can speak only when they get their chance. It is also good to mention "5 minutes per person for their presentation" minimalise the chance for anyone to monopolise the discussion.

Yes, ?? it’s important to create an inclusive and respectful environment where diverse perspectives are valued. Encouraging active participation, setting clear guidelines for respectful dialogue, and using tools like turn-taking or moderation can help prevent dominant voices from overshadowing others. Additionally, making space for quieter participants by directly inviting them to contribute or using asynchronous platforms can help amplify voices that might otherwise go unheard.
