I believe it is important to articulate the big picture to the team and how that will help their organisation/customers.....It is also important to communicate and recognize the role being played out by the different team members and how their piece forms a critical part of the big picture goal. The leadership team needs to be very good listeners throughout this journey to be able to understand problems and lend timely support.

One of the things I’ve found helpful is keeping the team’s focus on the long-term vision and the benefits and celebrating milestones along the way. It’s easy to get bogged down in the short-term disruptions when daily initiatives are not kept in the context of what the organization is aiming to achieve. Look for small accomplishments to celebrate, along with learnings through the disruptions.

Keeping the communication channels open and honest is extremely important. Also letting your team know that you as a leader are also feeling vulnerable in the uncertainty can create a sense of togetherness.

Long term projects tend to threaten the stability of organizations, in many cases. - Always keep an eye on big picture and make the team not lose focus on the big picture - Dividing long term initiatives into milestones goes a long way in achieving a sense of fulfillment - Take proactive action to address any addressable short term disruption - Always, re-iterate the vision/goal to the larger team either in periodic reviews or during milestone achievements. - Having a transparent process to report progress, challenges & achievement is right of every team member.

To maintain high team morale during change initiatives that cause short-term disruptions, it's essential to communicate openly and transparently about the reasons for the change and its long-term benefits. Provide consistent support and resources to help the team adapt, and recognize their efforts and achievements throughout the process. Encourage open dialogue to address concerns and foster a sense of inclusion and collaboration. By focusing on positive reinforcement and maintaining a supportive environment, you can help the team stay motivated and resilient during the transition.
