When i first joined the aviation industry back in 2006, the everyday word that I could hear in the aviation environment that I worked in was safety, safety, safety but fast track to 2024. The bars word of the day is money, money, money so over the time. The direction of focus for the industry has shifted from safety to money making, Therefore Safety has been compromised and it’s usually the people or the licensed officers that are punished from one end with the aviation regulators when it comes to safety and the other end penalized for wastage of funds from the business end of the organization they work for.

Safety should be the norm irrespective in the season and or schedule. Having said to that I understand that during the peak holiday periods schedules and mostly increased especially for domestic operations and yes safety must be prioritize even if it has to lead to delayed flights. Schedules must also take cognizance of safety and planned in such a way that delays can be recovered in good time so as not to create disruptions to travel plans knowing that travel plans during holiday peak periods are within limited days.

Adhering to safety SOPs and checklists is non-negotiable. It's crucial to maintain the ground time efficiently and always plan for Actual Time of Takeoff (ATOT) during ramp operations. Every visual inspection carried out must be meticulously recorded, and daily runway inspection records should be reviewed regularly. This ensures any potential issues are identified and addressed promptly. In an industry where the smallest oversight can lead to significant consequences, diligence and thoroughness in every safety procedure are vital. By prioritizing safety over expedience, we ensure not only compliance with regulations but also the well-being of passengers and crew, reinforcing trust in the aviation system.

Tight working rosters with little space for changes due to illness or family issues are also very important to monitor because they can increase the burden of the rest of the team.

When it's comes to Crew, resting them is crucial for a safe operation and healthy environment of aviation. Always we have to stick on requirement so that we keep everyone SAFE.

As a crew member, I understand the importance of ensuring safety, even if this means delaying or canceling some flights. However, what intrigues me is the impatience and irritability of passengers when their flights are canceled, even though they are informed of the reasons for the cancellations.

We understand that delays can be frustrating, especially during the holidays. Clear and consistent communication about the reasons for delays and expected wait times helps manage expectations. Providing comfortable waiting areas and amenities also helps keep passengers calm and patient.

Patience from passengers allows crew members to provide necessary services and support while ensuring a positive travel experience for everyone.

Clearly we encounter with unsatisfied passengers daily, pushing airlines to endanger operations. So, information, clarification and updates should be in display for passengers to understand that SAFETY measure are being taken for their purpose.

Comprehensive risk assessments are conducted regularly to identify potential hazards and develop mitigation strategies. We employ advanced analytics and real-time monitoring systems to foresee and manage risks effectively, ensuring smooth and safe operations.

Airlines and airport operators need to explain not only what happened (contingency), but why that specific decision was taken, in a way that passengers and users are called to contribute with safety procedures. We at aviation business unfortunately still communicate with an old thinking, that these clients don't need to receive explanations about the decision taken. It's urgent to promote this change.
