Reflective surfaces are a simple, cost effective measure to harvest daylight. However, if you are relying on mirrors to achieve this, privacy is going to be far less of a concern than glare or heat gain. If actual mirrors are placed directly in the path of the sun the client will be blinded, and you'll also directly counteract any thermal efficiency measures you've planned for (not to mention potential fire hazards). Examples of reflective surfaces that may be used for daylight harvesting are backpainted (or translucent) glass cladding, foils, polished stone, and metallic coatings. Any reflective surface will still create glare if placed inappropriately: make sure that it is the indirect light you are capturing, not the light source itself.
