I love the concept of the “UED Dance” it’s giving a blend of Creativity and balancing it with the users needs. This basically has to do with balancing aesthetics and visually appealing designs with meeting the user’s expectations. This is where having a proper understanding of the users needs comes into play. Hence, it’s Aesthetics + Functionality = UED dance

Something else worth considering for the creative flair, is playing with a range of fidelity… If you’ve never tested ideas as sketches or rough mock ups, it’s worth the experience.. I’ve found participants more engaged, perhaps encouraged by the unfinished nature of low fidelity and willing to share more. When you think about it, it’s the difference between being served dinner or being invited into the kitchen to chop carrots. ?? Lots of opportunity for play and experimentation in this space, whilst deepening the whole team’s understanding of people’s needs and satisfactions. A roadmap needs fuel not only from today’s experience but from those unspoken needs you might be able to uncover in other ways

You are a designer, and you have been handed a blank piece of paper. Now draw something in 5 minutes. It would be nearly impossible not to scatter your ideas all over the place. Same scenario, but now draw a house, on a beach, with a sunny weather. These guidelines will actually help you channel and focus your creativity instead of scattering it. Think of guidelines and design principles as this magnifying glass channeling the sun's light beam on a single target, a framework to direct creativity on the right path.
