Balancing control engineer and team member expectations: Feeling overwhelmed by conflicting demands?
In the world of control engineering, harmonizing your meticulous nature with team expectations requires a deft touch. To find equilibrium:
- Establish clear priorities. Decide which tasks need your control expertise and which can be delegated or done collaboratively.
- Communicate effectively. Ensure your team understands both the technical requirements and their individual roles in meeting them.
- Schedule regular check-ins. These provide opportunities for feedback and adjustments, keeping everyone aligned and informed.

Balancing the demands of control engineering with team expectations has been a key focus in my career. As a Mechanical & Piping QA/QC Inspector, I prioritize both technical precision and team alignment. Clear communication and defined roles have proven essential, particularly in my work with Initec Energia Maroc/OCP and Delattre Levivier Maroc, where I developed and implemented Inspection and Test Plans. Celebrating milestones and continuously refining QC procedures fosters an environment where standards not only meet but exceed expectations, building a culture of ongoing improvement.

Meticulous nature should be considered the motive for perfection. - look in the history (the log of previous problems) - categories such problems by cause, level of experience required to solve such problems - DOCUMENT use your expertise to define the problem, describe preventive actions, corrective actions, how to detect, expected resources required - KNOW YOUR TEAM, document your team members’ technical, mental capabilities. - group team members in small groups to complement each other to reach more favourable treats and dependability. - continuous improvement of documented procedures, search for rarer and rarer non documented procedures and try to minimise their existence. - track your team’s capabilities and reassign their tasks.

As a coordinator of calibrations and automation, balancing technical control with team collaboration is essential for achieving quality results. In this role, prioritizing tasks is crucial: some activities require direct oversight, while others can be delegated to optimize resources and maintain project flow. Effective communication is central, ensuring that each team member understands their role and technical requirements, which strengthens cohesion and team performance. Regular check-ins provide an opportunity to assess progress and adjust approaches, ensuring everyone stays aligned and informed. In sum, maintaining this harmony between technical precision and teamwork is the foundation for an efficient calibrations and automation team.
