I prefer to follow T-3 rule. The sprint must be frozen at least 3 days before the start or finish of the sprint. For upcoming sprints, the stories must be fixed at least 3 days before the sprint starts. This gives enough room for the team to understand the sprint and prepare for it correctly. At the same time, if the sprint has any overflows, those must be identified, communicated, and adjusted at least 3 days before the sprint finishes.
